5 Simple Ways to Honor Your Own Legacy this Women's History Month

March is recognized as Women's History Month. I cannot speak for anyone else but...

First of all, has March always been Women's History Month?

Second of all, we keep it lady like everyday around here! (ummm, we keep this crazy world on tilt)

Around these parts, everyday is a celebration of the amazing legacies that you and I are forging in the present. I must say that not everyday on this path is easy or satisfying, but everyday gives us an opportunity to walk in purpose - flexin' our big bawsey genius. But while we are celebrating the women of our history- make sure to raise a glass for yourself!

This Spring I am choosing to honor my legacy by being more intentional with my time alone. Here are a few routines that I am implementing.

Flexin' my creative muscle in a new non-work related way.

Learning new skills that do not have the pressure of success can be liberating. The benefits can also show positive effects on work related partnerships and productivity.

Get outside more.

I have always loved the feeling of the sun on my face. With the advancements in allergy medication I can bask in the sun's glory on a daily bases...well as much as nature will cooperate. Natural light is a bonafide mood enhancer!

Take a solo mini retreat.

Whew, this one is a big one! I love traveling with my husband and my friends but tackling a solo retreat, even if local, is something that I want to experience. At least to check it off the bucket list (my bucket list is rather tame).

Create a sleep routine.

Do we really need to discuss the benefits of adequate sleep? Hello higher functioning brain power! Listen, my productivity is based on notes on my phone or sticky notes all over my desktop monitor. A sleep routine will hopefully help increase the levels of mental angst that comes with working fulltime and being an entrepreneur.

Recite "proof" affirmations.

My past accomplishments are vast and varied and I am pretty impressed with how I conquered some personal battles and fears in my life. So sometimes I need to draw on my past "proof" to remind myself of my capabilities.

Of course this is a no judgement zone and you can honor and celebrate your self and the legacy that you are building in whatever way that makes YOUR spirit sing.
